Brief Biographical Sketch:
For his undergraduate studies, Roy attended Morehouse College, where he majored in Biology. While at Morehouse, he became interested in the topic of Neuroscience through summer research opportunities suggested to him by his mentors. These experiences led him to declare a neuroscience minor and to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience ultimately. In May of 2018, he graduated and received his B.S. in Biology with a neuroscience minor and began graduate school at UCLA in the fall of that year. His current research interest focus on the role of astrocytes, a type of cell in the brain, in the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition to research, Roy is passionate about outreach and increasing diversity in STEM, with a particular interest in communicating neuroscience topics to individuals not in the field. In the future, He would like to become a researcher and professor and to start a lab at a research institution.
