Introduction

If you are a UCLA student looking to teach high school students at Splash, you've come to the right place! As college students you probably have an interest that you've been passionate about for a while and that you want to share with someone other than your family and friends. Through Splash, you'll get to share it with high school students in a fun and relaxed environment. The required time commitment is minimal, and we'll work with you step by step if needed to help you.

Guidelines and Requirements

  1. Class length: Classes should be at least 1 hour long. If longer, classes should be a multiple of 1 hour long.
  2. Class topic: You can teach anything you want (age appropriate, not requiring too many special items or teaching aids).
  3. Youth Safety Training: Teachers are required to attend a mandatory 1 hour youth safety training workshop. This is required by the university to ensure appropriate behavior when working with minors. Sessions will be held beginning of Spring Quarter.
  4. Teacher workshop (Optional): Teachers should attend a optional 1 hour teacher workshop to go over student handling and waivers, dates are shared on our Discord and Instagram!

No teaching experience necessary, only passion and interest! We host optional training workshops to help each of you develop a lesson plan for the classes you will be teaching! We also ask that teachers develop a simple lesson plan so that you are prepared the day of the event.

If you're having trouble coming up with with something to teach, keep in mind that anything is great! We've seen classes on topics from unicorns to quantum physics. Check out this year's course catalog!

Check out the Teacher Master Doc for links, dates, instructions, and resources all in one convenient place!
