Brief Biographical Sketch:
Tan Nguyen is a senior UCLA student majoring in Biology and minoring in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences. With an interest in space medicine and their application to the final frontier of human exploration, Tan is an advocate for STEM education and their benefits towards the aerospace community. As a pre-medical student, he is formally educated in general biology and experienced in clinical activities, working with both the underserved Asian communities of Los Angeles and veterans of the United States Military. This course will begin with the history of modern aviation and world events which contributed to space exploration. Afterwards, the course will proceed into the history of crewed expeditions (in the United States and abroad) discussing both its successes and failures in the engineering, medical, and institutional aspects. Careers into the aerospace industry will also be discussed.
